I’ve been drawn to the play of color and light since my earliest remembrances. My studies veered from photography, graphic design and fiber arts to figure drawing and landscape design before I arrived at plein air painting.
Painting plein air in the unpredictable ever changing light is like jumping into the deep end of the swimming pool. No time to think …just paint! Through my paintings I hope to convey the beauty of the world as it is.
In my series of plein air paintings of Hawaii I’ve developed a strong body of work, using pure saturated colors, bold compositions, and a bit of magical realism to create a unique expressionistic style that is immediately recognizable….and conveys the beauty and essence of the Big Island.
My work has been featured in local fine arts galleries in Hawaii for the past eight years at the following galleries in Hawaii:
- The Living Arts Gallery
- Gallery of Great Things
- Piko Hale Gallery
- Kohala Artworks
- Kenji’s House Gallery in Hawi
